Sitara Shipping Ltd. was established in 1981 . Initially we started operations as ship agents, ship managers and ship owners. In 1991 we diversified into container operations. 

We have had a lot of “firsts” to our credit –being the first Indian NVOCC to own  containers; the first Multimodal Transport Document (MTD ) in India was issued by Sitara.

We are the first Indian Company to execute projects for the US Defence Forces at Diego Garcia, a naval base in the Indian Ocean.

We specialise in project cargos moving both by containers & breakbulk mode.
Today, we are an integrated total logistics company committed to providing tailor made, cost-effective and reliable services to our customers as per their needs.

Capt.Satnam Singh Sahi , founder and MD is a first generation entrepreneur . His passion for the industry was evident when he, a young Master Mariner at 25, left sea to set up his maritime business ashore. A veteran of the industry, he has spent over 50 years in the maritime industry having undertaken projects in every sphere of shipping. Known for his knowledge, passion for work and high ethical standards, he has set a benchmark and retains prestigious clientele through innovative and sustainable solutions.

Mrs.Inderjit Sahi

Director Finance

Mrs.Inderjit Sahi is Director for Sitara Shipping Ltd. She is heading the Finance function at Sitara  for the last 25 years.

She  has been with the company since its inception. She has been engaged in several initiatives that have strengthened brand Sitara, from a small start up to the trusted and established brand it is today.

She also leads the HR function and under her leadership the team has successfully brought in, developed and retained the talent to deliver top results aligned with organisational goals.

Ms.Sumi Sahi Dutt

Director

Ms.Sumi Sahi is an alumni of St.Xaviers college and holds a Diploma in Shipping Management from Narottam Morarjee Institute of Shipping.

Having joined the family business as a trainee in 1997, she has  helped  establish Sitara as one of the key players in the ODC and project cargo market .

She is one of the founder members of WISTA in India and feels very passionately about diversity and inclusion especially the cause of female seafarers.

Her motto is "Nothing is impossible-the sky is the limit!"

She was awarded at the Global Economic Summit 2017 for her achievements in the maritime field.

Ms. Sanjam Sahi Gupta

Director

Ms.Sanjam Gupta is an alumni of SP Jain Institute of Management and Research & holds a Diploma in Shipping Management from Narottam Morarjee Institute of Shipping. As founder member and President Emeritus of WISTA India, she is an  advocate for diversity in the maritime industry. She’s an Ambassador for Sailors Society  and the first Indian on the Executive Board of the World Maritime University.

In 2014 the International Womens' Leadership Forum awarded her "Leading Woman in Shipping Business" and in2018 Sandvik  awarded Sitara Shipping Ltd. At their ‘Gender Awards 2018, Sanjam was awarded for formulating Corporate Policy of Sitara Shipping for Empowering Women in Maritime. They highlighted her passion and commitment and touched upon salient features of her presentation on Empowering Women in Maritime.

She has been featured by the Economic Times, Fairplay Magazaine UK, Maritime CEO , Maritime Gateway and several leading  magazines.
